WHIPPET STANDARD

Group:   Group 4 (Hounds)
General Appearance:   Balanced combination of muscular power and strength with elegance and grace of outline. Built for speed and work. All forms of exaggeration should be avoided.
Characteristics:   An ideal companion. Highly adaptable in domestic and sporting surroundings.
Temperament:   Gentle, affectionate, even disposition.
Head And Skull:   Long and lean, flat on top, tapering to muzzle with slight stop, rather wide between the eyes, jaws powerful and clean cut. Nose black, in blues a bluish colour is permitted, liver nose in creams and other dilute colours, in whites or parti-colour a butterfly nose is permissible.
Eyes:   Oval, bright, expression very alert.
Ears:   Rose shaped, small, fine in texture.
Mouth:   Jaws strong with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. the upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Neck:   Long, muscular, elegantly arched.
Forequarters:   Shoulders well laid back with flat muscles. Moderate space between the shoulder blades at the withers. The upper arm is approximately of equal length to the shoulder, placed so that the elbow falls directly under the withers when viewed in profile. Forearms straight and upright with moderate bladed bone. Front not too wide. Pasterns strong with slight spring.
Body:   Chest very deep with plenty of heart room. Well filled in front. Brisket deep. Broad, well muscled back, firm, somewhat long, showing graceful arch over the loin but not humped. Ribs well sprung. Loin giving the impression of strength and power. Definite tuck up.
Hindquarters:   Strong, broad across the thighs, with well developed second thighs. Stifles well bent without exaggeration with hocks well let down. Able to stand naturally over a lot of ground.
Feet:   Oval, well split between the toes, knuckles well arched, pads thick, nails strong.
Tail:   No feathering. Long, tapering, reaching at least to the hock. When in action carried in a delicate curve not higher then the back.
Gait/Movement:   Should possess great freedom of action. In profile should move with a long, easy stride whilst holding the topline. The forelegs should be thrown forward and low over the ground. Hind legs should come well under the body giving great propelling power. General movement not to look stilted, high stepping, short mincing.
Coat:   Fine, short, close in texture.
Colour:   Any colour or mixture of colours
Sizes:
Desirable height  -   Dogs 47-51 cms (18 ½ - 20 ins)  -  Bitches 44-47 cms (17 ½ - 18 ½ ins)
Faults:   Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree.

SALUKI STANDARD

Group:   Group 4 (Hounds)
General Appearance:   The whole appearance of this breed should give an impression of grace and symmetry and of great speed and endurance coupled with strength and activity to enable it to kill gazelle or other quarry over deep sand or rocky mountain. The expression should be dignified and gentle with deep, faithful, farseeing eyes.
Characteristics:   (Not Detailed)
Temperament:   (Not Detailed)
Head And Skull:   Head long and narrow; skull moderately wide between ears, not domed, the stop not pronounced, the whole showing great quality. Nose black or liver.
Eyes:   Dark to hazel and bright, large and oval, but not prominent.
Ears:   Long and mobile, covered with long silky hair; hanging close to the skull.
Mouth:   Teeth strong and level.
Neck:   Long, supple and well muscled.
Forequarters:   Shoulders sloping and set well back, well muscled without being coarse. The chest deep and moderately narrow. The forelegs straight and long from the elbow to the knee.
Body:   Back fairly broad, muscles slightly arched over the loin.
Hindquarters:   Strong, hip bones set wide apart, and stifle moderately bent, hocks low to the ground, showing galloping and jumping power.
Feet:   Of moderate length, toes long, and well arched, not splayed out, but at the same time not cat footed; the whole being strong and supple and well feathered between the toes.
Tail:   Long, set on low and carried naturally in a curve, well feathered on the underside with long silky hair, not bushy.
Gait/Movement:   (Not detailed)
Coat:   Smooth and of a soft silky texture; slight feather on the legs; feather at the back of the thighs; sometimes with slight woolly feather on thigh and shoulders. (In the Smooth variety the points should be the same with the exception of the coat which has no feathering).
Colour:   White, cream, fawn, golden, red, grizzle and tan, tricolour (white, black and tan) and black and tan, or variations of these colours.
Sizes:   Height: Dogs 58-71 cms (23-28 ins). Bitches proportionately smaller.

CHIHUAHUA SMOOTHCOAT STANDARD

Group:   Group 1 (Toys)
General Appearance:   Small, dainty, compact.
Characteristics:   Alert, little dog, swift moving with brisk forceful action and saucy expression.
Temperament:   Gay, spirited and intelligent, neither snappy nor withdrawn.
Head And Skull:   Well rounded 'Apple Dome' skull, cheeks and jaws lean, muzzle moderately short, slightly pointed. Definite stop.
Eyes:   Large, round, but not protruding; set well apart; centre of eye is on a plane with lowest point of ear and base of stop; dark or ruby. Light eyes in light colours permissible.
Ears:   Large, flaring, set on at an angle of approximately 45 degrees; giving breadth between ears. Tipped or broken down highly undesirable.
Mouth:   Jaws strong, with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. the upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Neck:   Slightly arched, medium length.
Forequarters:   Shoulders well laid; lean, sloping into slightly broadening support above straight forelegs, set well under chest giving freedom of movement without looseness.
Body:   Level back. Body, from point of shoulder to rear point of croup, slightly longer than height at withers. Well sprung ribs, deep brisket.
Hindquarters:   Muscular: hocks well let down, with good turn of stifle, well apart, turning neither in nor out.
Feet:   Small and dainty, turning neither in nor out; toes well divided but not spread, pads cushioned, fine, strong, flexible pasterns. Neither hare nor cat-like, nails moderately short.
Tail:   Medium length, set high, carried up and over back (sickle tail). When moving never tucked under or curled below the topline. Furry, flattish in appearance, broadening slightly in centre and tapering to point.
Gait/Movement:   Brisk, forceful action, neither high stepping nor hackney; good reach without slackness in forequarters, good drive in hindquarters. Viewed from front and behind legs should move neither too close nor too wide, with no turning in or out of feet or pasterns. Topline should remain firm and level when moving.
Coat:   Smooth, of soft texture, close and glossy, with undercoat and ruff permissible.
Colour:   Any colour or mixture of colours, except Merle of any combination.
Sizes:   Weight: up to 2.7 kg (6 lbs) 1-1.8 kg (2-4 lbs) preferred. If two dogs are equally good in type the more diminutive preferred.

CHIHUAHUA LONGCOAT STANDARD

Group:   Group 1 (Toys)
General Appearance:   The Standard of the Chihuahua (Long Coat) is the same as the Standard of the Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) with the exception of the following:-
Coat:   COAT - Long, soft texture (never coarse or harsh to touch) either flat or slightly wavy. Never tight and curly. Feathering on ears, feet and legs, pants on hind quarters, large ruff on neck desirable. Tail long and full as a plume.

ITALIAN GREYHOUND STANDARD

Group:   Group 1 (Toys)
General Appearance:   A greyhound in miniature, more slender in all proportions.
Characteristics:   Elegant, graceful and quick moving.
Temperament:   Intelligent, affectionate and vivacious, may appear aloof.
Head And Skull:   Skull long, flat and narrow, slight stop. Muzzle fine and long.
Nose dark in colour.
Eyes:   Rather large, bright; full of expression.
Ears:   Rose-shaped, placed well back, soft and fine, not pricked.
Mouth:   Jaws strong, with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. the upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws. Teeth even.
Neck:   Long, gracefully arched.
Forequarters:   Shoulders long and sloping. Legs straight; well set under shoulders; fine, strong bone and pasterns.
Body:   Chest deep and narrow. Good length of rib and brisket. Back slightly arched over loin.
Hindquarters:   Long, well muscled thigh: hind legs parallel when viewed from behind; well bent stifle, hocks well let down.
Feet:   Hare feet.
Tail:   Low set, long, fine, carried low.
Gait/Movement:   High stepping and free action. Front and hind legs to move forward in a straight line with propulsion from behind.
Coat:   Skin fine and supple. Hair, short, fine and glossy.
Colour:   Black, blue, cream, fawn, red, white, or any of these colours broken with white. White dogs may be broken with one of these colours. Black or blue with tan markings, or brindle not acceptable.
Sizes:   Ideal height: 32-38 cms (13-15ins) at withers. Ideal weight: 3.6-4.5 kg (8-10 lbs). Overall type and elegance essential.
